This is a very adaptable, hardy, extremely ornamental, clustering pinnate Madagascan Dypsis with elegant long, weeping leaves with tough, deep green drooping leaflets and white to white-green stems and trunks. It tends to be more 'leaning' than the recurved form which is a more upright plant who's stems are nearly perpendicular to the ground. It is pretty cold hardy palm handling frosts down to 25F without much difficulty, making it one of the hardiest of the Dypsis species. It can grow in desert sun (with some burning sometimes) so relatively shady locations. It's wind tolerance is pretty good, too. It's a moderately fast grower, though slower than the similar looking palm, Dypsis lutescens. It is one of the few Dypsis that look as healthy in Mediterranean climates as they do in the tropics.
