Uses : Grown as a windbreak in tea plantations. The culms are used for temporary constructions (houses, bridges) and various household utensils such as water containers. General Description: Dendrocalamus hamiltonii is an evergreen Bamboo growing to 15 m (49ft) by 2 m (6ft) at a fast rate.
The flowers are pollinated by Wind.
Suitable for: light (sandy), medium (loamy) and heavy (clay) soils and prefers well-drained soil. Suitable pH: mildly acid, neutral and basic (mildly alkaline) soils. It can grow in semi-shade (light woodland) or no shade. It prefers moist soil.
