Dr. Rawat has vast experience in the field of GIS with specialization on landslides early warning model, stabilization of landslide, active tectonics and national geomorphology mapping. Earlier he has been associated with organizations like USAC, Dehradun; C-MMAC, Bangluru; IIT Kharagpur and GBPIHED,Sikkim. He has ample knowledge on Rock Mass Rating, Slope Mass Rating, Satellite data interpretation and Disaster Management for different fields. He has more than 50 research papers in reputed scientific journals and 10 technical reports to his credit. For honing his skills he has participated in nearly 20 training programmes. He is member of Indian tropical meteorology, Dehradun Chapter.

He has participated in "1st Prize in 1st Indian Landslide Congress at Lucknow in the Year-2010, he has also contributed in the Development of Landslide Early warning Model for Sikkim State with ISRO. & was one of the Member of the team from USAC which received the Best State Prize in the 100 Science Congress at Kolkata in the Year 2013 jointly with UCOST. Currently he is looking into science popularization, NASI UK Chapter, and SDI project in the council.
