Celebration of International Biodiversity Day by UCOST at Regional Science Centre (RSC) Dehradun

The International Biodiversity day was celebrated by Uttarakhand Council for Science and Technology (UCOST) at Regional Science Centre (RSC) Dehradun on 22nd May, 2023. This year theme for the celebration of Biodiversity day was “From Agreement to Action: Build Back Biodiversity". On the occasion Dr. Saket Badola (IFS), Director, Rajaji Tiger Reserve, Uttarakhand deliver the popular lecture. He emphasized on biodiversity of fauna and wild life conservation, he coated several successes stories encompasses biodiversity conservations in India and asked students to take up the conservation of the biodiversity in the form of hobby and develop interest in related topics. Prof. Durgesh Pant, Director General, UCOST talks about the importance of conservation of different species and degradation caused to environment by human activities. Mr. G.S. Rautela, Advisor Science City and former DG, NCSM talks about the challenges in the biodiversity conservations and futuristic species DNA Park for the conservation of endangered species. He urge students to take up the oath for the conservation of biodiversity in their daily life. Dr. D.P. Uniyal, Joint Director, UCOST talks about the biodiversity in relation to climate change and importance of conserved areas for the protection of animals. Dr. Piyush Joshi, SSO & In-charge RSC, talks about the role of Science and Technology in the conservation of ecosystem and informed about the upcoming science centers in the Uttarakhand for creating awareness among masses, he also coordinated the session and delivers the vote of thanks. Several students from different school and colleges, Scientist and UCOST/RSC staff were present during the event.
